Sandy Lawson
Candidate for Mayor
Sandy Lawson and her family moved to Wanaque in 1993 and have been deeply rooted in the community ever since. Over the years, Sandy became increasingly involved in local issues by attending council meetings and staying informed about what was being planned for the town.
She has a long history of civic and volunteer service, including:
- Serving on the Passaic County Open Space Advisory Committee since 1999
- Serving as Vice-Chair for 18 years and Chair for 3 years
- Working as a former Girl Scout Leader and co-Leader
- Serving on the Girl Scout Council Strategic Learning Committee
- Serving as a Commissioner on the Greenwood Lake Commission
- Co-founding Wanaque REACH, a grassroots environmental group
- Leading community efforts through Wanaque Recycles
Sandy believes Wanaque and Haskell need leaders who put residents before politics, communicate openly, and create meaningful opportunities for public input. She is focused on supporting first responders, keeping taxes under control, encouraging appropriate development, supporting small businesses, and making local government more accessible and transparent.

Richard McFarlane
Candidate for Council
Richard McFarlane has been a resident of Wanaque since 2012. He has been married for 15 years and is the father of two children.
Richard currently serves as a member of the Wanaque Board of Education, a position to which he was first elected in 2014. He is also a small business owner of more than 30 years and holds a degree in Political Science from William Paterson University.
In addition to his public service and business experience, Richard has been working to assist unhoused individuals in Wanaque by helping connect them with housing resources.
Richard believes Wanaque and Haskell need leadership that puts residents before party politics. He is committed to greater accountability, stronger communication from local government, and more transparency in how residents are informed about what is being planned in the community. He supports initiatives such as broader public access to meetings, including televised meetings and virtual access options, so residents can stay informed and engaged.

Darlyn Warner
Candidate for Council
Darlyn Warner has been a resident of Wanaque for 25 years and is married with three adult children.
She earned an Associate’s Degree in Radiography from Passaic County Community College and built a distinguished career in education and healthcare. Over the years, she advanced from Radiographer to Clinical Instructor, then Professor, and later Radiography Program Coordinator at Essex County College.
Darlyn believes deeply in public service and in the value of strong community institutions. She is committed to supporting Wanaque’s essential services, including Police, Fire, and EMS, and believes residents deserve leadership that is transparent, accountable, and responsive.
She also wants residents to know that their voices matter. Darlyn is committed to listening to the concerns of the community and helping build a more open and engaged local government.
